Chicken Pox Menu

It’s either my body’s tough or my doctor is stingy with his mc – I only got 1 week off for chicken pox. Returned to work n every1 was scared. So I went back to him for 1 more week of mc. Expended all my 14 days of medical leave!

I think it’s the lack of food that’s making me sick. Grew so tired of gamey pork n veggie, parboiled rice + pork = porridge my mom prepared that I had to make a trip to the supermarket to grab cereals and pasta (supposed to stay away from oily food but I felt great after eating it). The only consolation was perhaps I got to skip fish for a week but now it’s back on my plate (luckily no pomfret cuz can only eat fish with scales). The most enjoyable things I did were reading and watching tv, and of course sms-ing my friends. I didn’t even have time to watch the dvds my friends lent me for this purpose. Felt like I was on a holiday with no access to the pc (job applications) as the only drawback!

My mom’s famous steamed fish n fish soup. Steamed minced pork.

Did my own cooking when I couldn’t take it anymore.

Potato n pork strips
Pork noodles

Cereals with milk/yogurt and cranberries

Pasta

Pork chop cheese ramen

If u r interested, can ask me for the recipes.

My biggest headache now is what to eat for lunch – only had rice, veggie n a huge porkball on the first day back at work. I had my last good meal for weeks to come –bak kut teh, on the first day of my chicken pox. Had xiaolong bao w/o ginger slices n vinegar at Nanxiang @ city square (much better standard than the Bugis one) n pork rib noodles while my mom n sis feasted on salted egg prawn, crab roe fried rice...

Thankfully, there’s PORK in this world. Have to miss my crab feasts… my mom said n shellfish for 3 months then pantry lady said 4 months! And no nuts. I‘m going nuts. I’m so desperate that I’m inclined to follow the Malay Indian’s chicken pox diets! They said maybe for about a month…article in Straits Times said no special diet required unless there’s a history of food allergy. Very convincing!

And here’s the welcome back present from my boss. Some colleagues commented that it’s a useful method to inform others of my whereabouts.
